A Very Thrifted Christmas

Buying second hand offers endless possibilities for gifts. You never know what you’ll find! I’d love to challenge everyone to buy or give at least one thrifted/secondhand gift this season.

Gifting previously loved items can breathe new life into an item as cliche as that sounds. What one person may be sick of, becomes something that another dreamed of.

It can be difficult wanting to give the latest and greatest gift but not having or wanting to spend the accompanying budget. Did you know that you can find items that still have their tags on them at thrift shops and second hand shops? I would almost guarantee that those individuals who have made it to your Christmas list to buy for would not want to put you in debt.

New to you items can often look new again with a simpler wash or cleaning. Take advantage of the treasures you have around you that perhaps no longer make you happy,or fit correctly, etc. A little elbow grease and a run through the washer can do wonders.

I’ve come across many fun pieces at second hand shops and a fun part of that is going “oh, that reminds me of so and so” and then giving that gift to someone. They’ll likely be happy that something made you think of them.

There are so many places online that you can find secondhand gems to gift and for yourself. A few of my favorites are: eBay, thredup, Etsy, Amazon warehouse, Poshmark, Facebook marketplace and more. It’s easy to find new to you items or items you can repurpose without even stepping a foot outside your home.

The possibilities for WHAT to gift are virtually limitless. Gifts don’t need to be flashy, shiny and new. A used set of dishes may be just what someone needs this year. Or a new name brand sweater you found at your local thrift store that new at the department store would have been ten times the cost. It does not have to be hard to customize and make gifts that matter and show you put a lot of thought into it.

If you come across some great second hand finds this holiday season, comment or message me on Instagram and let me know!

My Favorite Loungewear and Undergarment Brands

If you are anything like me, since the beginning of the pandemic, loungewear has becoming my go to. And if I’m being 100% honest, it’s been my go to since beginning a mom and wanting to be comfy 24/7 😄

I’ve bought all different brands off Amazon and other various websites and I’ve recently found 2 brands that I really like.

The first brand I found is called Knix. I absolutely love their joggers and lounge sets. Knix is a woman founded business that is striving to create and has created many sustainable products including leakproof underwear for your period.

Use the code THEBEVINSCLAN_10OFF to get 10% off your order.

My other new favorite is Parade. This brand is my go to for bras, underwear and also loungewear! The undergarments are soooo soft and comfortable. They have an awesome recycling program called Second Life that allows you to send in your old underwear. They have partnered with Terracycle to help get underwear turned into new recycled products like furniture, insulation, and bedding. You can use the code Thebevinsclan to get 20% off your first order.

7 Postpartum Products You Need On Your Baby Registry

It is becoming more popular to include items for birthing parents on the baby registry. I just had my 2nd baby, Sawyer, in August 2021. This time around, I made sure to include items I knew I’d need postpartum since it was my 2nd baby.

It is so important to take care of yourself while you’re taking care of your new baby and the rest of your household too whether it be other children, pets, spouses and just general household duties. As the old saying goes – you can’t pour from an empty cup. If you don’t take care of you and find support with helpful people (and products), it’s hard to take everything’s else on.

These items are based on my experience as a mom who had a vaginal delivery and is breastfeeding. Some or none of these items may prove helpful to you if your delivery and postpartum needs are different than mine.

Electric Wearable Breast Pump

Manual Breast Pump – I love this so much more than my traditional electric pump

Nursing Maternity Tank Tops – I pretty much live in these tanks when I am nursing. I wear them under my regular shirt or sweatshirt because they are just so much easier than a nursing bra plus my stomach is covered then. Win-win as far as I’m concerned

Peri-Bottle -this comes in handy after a vaginal delivery. I used it for about a week or two postpartum when toilet paper was just not going to happen 🤣, you’ll probably get one at the hospital but if not, here’s one that works well

Adult Diapers – so worth it and way better than the mesh underwear they give you at the hospital

Comfy and loose pants – these are maternity pants but they are great for postpartum as they are nice and loose.

Washable breastpads

Bedroom Makeover Ideas

Kyle and I bought our home 8 years ago this month and we just had our bedroom painted for the first time about 2 months ago. When choosing a color, I wanted something neutral-ish but still something where you can definitely tell the walls are painted. I came across Sherwin Williams Evergreen Fog, which is the ‘color of the year 2022’ and I immediately loved it! It’s actually very similar to our entry way bathroom. The Sherwin Williams website says that Evergreen Fog is “Soothing, subtle, and a perfect shade to freshen up any space”. I’d have to agree, I love it.

Evergreen Fog- this is our bedroom wall color. I purchased the paint from Lowes. We have the paint with a satin finish so it’ll be easy to keep clean.

Our bed was purchased from Bob’s Discount Furniture. We’ve purchased several pieces of furniture from there (our living room sectional couch, the recliner chair in the nursery) and then this bedroom set. We have the bed, dresser, chest and 2 end tables. We’ve had this set for about 2 and a half years now.

The bedding set is from Amazon. I love how the rust color looks with the green walls and white furniture. I think it all balances it out nicely. The blanket is super comfortable and perfect for the fall and winter time when it’s nice to be all snuggled up. I just got this bedding set for Christmas and love it already.

Here’s a few items I have on and near my dresser.

Himalayan Glow Natural Pink Salt Lamp

Wooden Alarm Clock (this one is sort of similar to the one I have, but this one doubles as a wireless cell phone charger also which is neat)

We have the Google Home smart speak but I am having a helluva time trying to find it to link it. We’ve had it a while so maybe it’s discontinued now? Here is one that is similar, not made by Google, but it does work with Google Assistant. Also there is always the Amazon Echo Dot.

2 Pack of Small Woven Baskets

Of course the canvases are no longer available at the time of writing this post but here’s the link just in case and here’s a set that is similar.

I’m having fun finally decorating our bedroom. I still need to do Kyle’s side of the room and also decide if I want to put anything on the wall space above our bed.

The mirror is from Hobby Lobby. I love this mirror so much and I think we got it for about $60 since it wa 50% off. The macrame wall hanging was a gift and bought locally but here is a similar one.

I love this bookshelf so much! It comes in white, black and rustic brown. It was relatively easy to put together. But I say that as someone who just watched my husband put it together 🤣

The floor lamp was purchased from At Home. We actually have a 2nd one in the living room as well.

What do you think? What else should I add? Let me know your ideas in the comments or feel free to message me on Instagram.
